maene makes professional hair tools for everyday life, and we make brow products that hold. Put them together and you get the best part of any night out: the getting ready.

We got together with the girls at maene for a getting-ready shoot. Rollers in, brows set, music on. Here's why it worked so well.

Two brands, born the same way

maene was founded by professional hairdressers Stephanie and Danielle, with over three decades of hair experience between them, from salon floors to backstage at fashion weeks. Wolfie was cofounded by Lucy Hart, a professional makeup artist with over 15 years in the industry. Both brands were born in Manchester, built by people who work in the industry every day.

Different worlds, same frustration. The tools that really worked were hard to find, overpriced or not made for real life. Brow products flaked, left white residue and gave up halfway through the day. So both of us stopped waiting for someone else to fix it.

Same standard

maene's line is "Salon born. Real life ready." Ours is "Performance over everything." They mean the same thing: it has to survive a real day. Volume that lasts. Hold that lasts. Nobody has time to redo their hair or their brows at 10pm.

Same idea of freedom

There's no right way to do your hair or your brows. Big and bouncy, sleek, wild, undone. Pro-level tools just mean you get to choose, and it stays put.

The getting-ready edit

Here's the order we'd do it in:

Rollers in. The maene Volume Roller Pack has a thermal core and a velcro exterior for root lift that lasts.
Brows while they set. Fill with the Wolfie Brow Sketch Pencil, brush up and lock in with Firm Hold Brow Gel.
Rollers out, brush through. Big hair, brows to match.
